Two Men In Tights – California Wine Country and Northern Coast Tour – May 6-18

by Bryan Shaner and Ray Persico Ray and I had been trying to find a Bicycle Adventure Club (BAC) ride for some time.  First the Southern Utah Tour was full then the Sicily trip fell apart, so I was pretty excited when he told me about the California Wine Country and ...

L’Etape du Tour of California: the Mt. Baldy Stage

by Mark Pryor This story starts back on Tuesday, when I went to the garage to load up my trusty old Trek 5200 for the trip--Janet and I were spending a couple of days before the ride in Palm Springs, and we drove down Tuesday morning. Luckily, I was testing things ...

Mauna Kea

by Bryan Shaner I arrived at Mid Pacific Wheels in Hilo half an hour early hoping to get a jump on the ride up to the Mauna Kea Visitor’s Center. The cloud cover was thin for a change meaning it would be hot today.  They didn’t open early and had no ...

Steeple of Tres Pinos

Southern Utah Tour

by Byan Shaner As I lay there on the gravel, the last few minutes gradually came back to me. I had turned my bike into a parking area to take a picture of this beautiful mountain at Capitol Reef. The gravel was much deeper than I had expected. Rather than just ...

Knoxville Double – Triple, September 24-25, 2010

by Cristin Sohm Part of the ride was a total suffer-fest (lots of hills with extreme heat and not being able to eat). Part of the ride I thought the world was conspiring against me (flat after flat after flat). Part of the ride was scary as could be (riding alone ...
